1965 George Begg 1600

Bigger, faster and more sophisticated: compare the 1965 Begg 1600 with its 1963-64 predecessor, the Begg 650, and you’ll see what a difference a year makes.

  • Again built in essence to be a club racer, the Begg 1600 was powered by a modified 1600 Hillman Minx motor
  • First driven by Dr Dave Bruton, and then by Barry Keen, the car was very successful in the South Island Specials racing scene and was later converted into one of the very first Formula Ford vehicles.
  • The 1965 Begg 1600 is currently owned by Noel Atley and Ian Bisman
