Get pumped for Speedway Spectaculars

16th December 2021

That time is almost here! Our temporary display celebrating racing that’s out of this world opens on Saturday.

Originally dreamed up to entice those visiting the south for the annual Burt Munro Challenge – sadly cancelled for 2022 – to check out the leading classic motorcycle museum in the Southern Hemisphere, Speedway Spectaculars will be on display until 19 April 2022.

Transport World executive director Joc O’Donnell says the limited-time-only display is shaping up nicely as the team putting it together heads into the home stretch.

“Speedway has always been really popular here in New Zealand, including here in Southland, and we’ve been lucky enough to have been loaned some pretty special items celebrating the sport,” she says.

If marquee names like Larry Ross, Barry Briggs, and the Brookland family (who have kindly loaned a substantial number of authentic Speedway items, such as helmets painted by the legendary Bob Brookland, a hand-painted JAWA, and more) rev your engine, this is one exhibit you won’t want to miss.

Entry to the limited-time-only Speedway Spectaculars exhibit is included in general admission to Classic Motorcycle Mecca. Click here to book your tickets today.
